Badung Police have so far drawn a blank in their search for the killer of Lusiana Bulger, 46, wife of a retired British pilot, who was found bashed to death in her bedroom at her villa in Kerobokan Kelod late last month.
But they now suspect Mrs Bulger knew her killer and say it may be a lover she had taken while her husband, David Bulger, was away in Britain.
A spokesman said this was one line of inquiry detectives were following because there was no damage to either doors or windows at the villa – in Perum Umasari – and house dogs had not been reported barking on the night in question.
Mrs Bulger was from Jambi in East Java. She was found dead in her darkened bedroom at 9am on January 18 when her cleaner broke into the room because the door was locked from the inside.
The body was sprawled beside the bed with a broken neck and bad bruising.
She had been chatting with two friends on Facebook until after midnight and they told police she had been bright and cheerful as usual.
But police say they are working on theory that Mrs Bulger had been in an illicit relationship with a man who had used the association to demand money and become angry when he was not paid.
A mobile phone and a laptop were missing from the villa.Filed under: Headlines
