A Dutch mountain trekker, Erik van den Burg, 55, and a local guide feared lost on Mt Agung in chilly and wet weather have been found safe but weak in a village 1,400 metres up the mountain.
Temperatures at that altitude can be up to 10 degrees below sea level temperatures.
Villagers from Banjar Yeh Kori Junutan, in Bebandem, found the men sheltering beneath a tree and took them to their village. Van den Burg and guide Ketut Tison, 18, had separated late last month from a party including two French trekkers and become lost.
Search and rescue teams spent days combing the mountain trying to find them.Filed under: Headlines
